A specialized training course on “Modern Techniques for Rangelands Management and Monitoring in Arid Areas" was organized in collaboration with ICARDA’s Arabian Peninsula Regional Program (APRP) and Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs & Fish Resources, Kuwait (PAAFR) between the 18 and 19 of December 2010. Ten (10)participants from five countries attended this event.   The training consisted of a combination of lectures, field trip and practical “hand-on” experience focused on 1) theoretical knowledge about fundamental principles of geographical information systems (GIS), remote sensing (RS), and global positioning systems (GPS), 2) field visit to nearby site for data collection, and 3) hand-on experience using specialized software.
