ICARDA-APRP in Collaboration with
the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in
Oman (MAF) organized a training workshop on
“Rangeland Rehabilitation, Monitoring and
Management” in Muscat from 2 to 5 October 2011.Most
of the natural rangeland resources in the
Arabian Peninsula are fragile and degraded. Therefore the proper management and
rehabilitation are very important to enhance
the situation.
The training workshop aimed to
enhance knowledge of participants
on: 1)
Rangeland assessment & monitoring;
2) ·Field measurements of plant cover
and grazing capacity; 3) Rangeland condition and trend;
3) Sustainable development and
management of rangelands; 4)·Rehabilitation techniques of
degraded rangelands; and 5) Identification of descriptors for
spineless cactus growth evaluation
